Providing a constructive channel of communication between parent carers and strategic partners

Our Priorities

Each year the Forum will focus on what you tell us is important, our focus at the moment is in the following areas:-

ADDITIONAL LEARNING NEEDS

Achieve inclusion and culture change following the ALN legislation. This will mean children and
young people are appropriately supported through Education and that more parent carers are
working in equal partnership with the professionals involved in meeting their children and young
people’s needs.

CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE

Ensure CAMHS are adapting interventions to meet the needs of disabled children and young people. This will mean appropriately adapted interventions, resulting in good mental health and wellbeing for children and young people in Swansea.

SERVICE PROVISION

Develop clear pathways to services. This will mean there will be a clear pathway for children and young people and parent carers to access services.

FORUM MEMBERSHIP

To grow our membership and raise awareness of  what we do. This will mean our collective voice will be heard by decision makers in Swansea and affect positive change where it is needed.

ACCESSIBILITY & EQUITY

Ensure disabled people and their families have the same access to services and leisure opportunities in Swansea as everyone else. This will mean removing barriers to participation and building services with accessibility and equity at their core.

An overarching element to the work of the forum is to ensure that its priorities include pan disability and all ages from early years to adults where relevant.
