Providing a constructive channel of communication between parent carers and strategic partners

Our Priorities

Each year the Forum will focus on what you tell us is important, our focus at the moment is in the following areas:-

ADDITIONAL LEARNING NEEDS

Achieve inclusion and culture change within ALN legislation. This will mean more parent carers are working in equal partnership with the professionals involved in meeting their children and young people’s needs.

CHILDREN AND ADOLESCENT MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE

Ensuring CAMHS are adapting interventions to meet the needs of disabled children and young people. This will mean appropriately adapted interventions, resulting in good mental health and wellbeing for children and young people in Swansea.

SERVICE PROVISION

Developing clear pathways to services. This will mean there will be a clear pathway for children and young people and parent carers to access services.

FORUM MEMBERSHIP

To grow our membership and raise awareness of  what we do. This will mean our collective voice will be heard by decision makers in Swansea and affect positive change where it is needed.

CO-PRODUCTION

To empower parent carers to lead the development of parent carer participation founded on the principles of co-production in Swansea. This will mean there is a model of service delivery that is inclusive and empowers parents to be able to communicate effectively with service providers.

An overarching element to the work of the forum is to ensure that its priorities include pan disability and all ages from early years to adults where relevant.
